Founded by the late Herbert Riley, a community organizer and musician who spearheaded the preservation of Charlie’s Place, the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival celebrates the city’s deep musical roots with a weekend of live performances in the historic Carver Street area—once home to Charlie’s Place.
Held every October, the festival showcases local, regional, and national talent, transforming the neighborhood into a vibrant stage for jazz, soul, and rhythm & blues.
It’s more than just a concert series—it’s a community celebration and a living tribute to the music and legacy that once filled the streets of Myrtle Beach.
Riley’s vision lives on through this festival, which continues to foster pride and unity through music, just as Charlie’s Place once did.
