Roukya Rhym Guissé is a Los Angeles-based actor, screenwriter, and producer. Born in Algeria to an Algerian mother and a Malian father, she spent her early years in several African countries, including the Ivory Coast, before moving to the U.S. to attend Baton Rouge Magnet High School in Louisiana.
She later earned a Bachelor's degree in writing from Kutztown University.
Rhym has worked extensively in the entertainment industry, with experience spanning casting, physical production, creative development, and acting.
Her credits include ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder and a performance in Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Ruined. As a screenwriter, she’s been recognized as a semifinalist at the Atlanta Film Festival and by the Diverse Voices Screenplay Competition.
As host of the Charlie’s Place podcast, Rhym draws from her unique perspective as an African-Arab immigrant woman and artist, bringing empathy, curiosity, and depth to the stories of a Southern Black community that changed music—and lives—forever.
